New URBNSURF Wave Pool Sydney - Raw GoPro Surfing Footage - Featuring my favourite Twinzer and Quad
Hey!
I got a chance to get a few waves at the new URBNSURF in Sydney yesterday, so I thought I'd use the opportunity to also use my new GoPro - found out later I should have put hyper smooth on... Haha!
Also was a good chance to check out two boards in the pool:
1. PB CUSTOM - ATV - pbcustom.com.au/about/
This has got to be one of the easiest to surf boards I have. Paddles like a mid, surfs like a shortboard!
2. PANDA - Twinzer EGG - www.pandasurfboards.com.au/global/surfboardmodels/modeldetail5.php?id_surfboardmodel=19203
This is really fun. Love twiners, so was cool to check one out with a shorter rail line as my previous twiners were much longer.
URBNSURF was super fun, with a lot of similari...

    Twinsman vs Plasmic: you have done a review on both and you say it’s the best twin fin on both those models you have ridden. So if you were to get one of them which is your choice and why?

    Curious on how these feel when you compress into the bottom turn. Does it have that load up and release/squirt feeling? Or is it that more meant to be steered kinda feeling that I've experienced with a couple other Midlengths, namely the Stretch It, and Firewire Seaxe. Those two have me shying away from boards with nose to tail V, convex bottom contours. But maybe a "double barrel concave" would go great. Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

    Best review! Are you still stocked about the HK twin or by now found a better twin? I am just about to order the HK twin but I can’t decide between the 5‘8 and 5‘9. For the past 6 years I am on the traditional Hypto krypto 5‘8 with 31 L. I know they say you should get the same as the original HK but especially for some smaller days or days with many mid length surfers in the water maybe some extra volume is not bad 😅 to increase wavecount? But I am afraid at the same time to lose some speed and fun going bigger/to big. As you have surfed it, can you advise if you think a bit bigger or smaller is the right choice? (I am intermediate surfer with 1.80 and 78kg). Thanks so much!

    Hey Craig. Thanks for epic reviews! Looking at a board to sit above my DHD phoenix for typical NSW coast (mid north coast ) beachies . Am older intermediate and ride the phoenix in 36.5L . Love it . I had an OG Flyer which was maybe bit under volume- I liked it but needed a good wave to go for me with that fairly steep entry rocker . Is this a better paddler ? Would you think something else might be better ? I’d considered a DHD black diamond , HS Holy Hypto. Cheers Brad

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide Месяц назад

      Hey! I haven’t ridden those last two, but the Happy Everyday is super similar to the OG, but maybe some more width through the nose and flatter entry rocker. Probably paddles better, and would suit a lower skilled surfer than the OG.

    Craig, thanks for all the reviews. I‘m looking to get a mid length and would like to get your advice. I have the chilli popper for mushy/small waves. My Shortboard days almost came to an end. 37 yrs old German (80kg) who only gets to surf 1 month a year… but been surfing for 15 years and also enjoy surfing bigger stuff. Just always struggle to get in the waves early, that’s how I came up with the idea of a mid length. Do you think the M32 is better suited to keep more of the shortboard performance compare to the mid strength? Appreciate your help.

    Surfing good. Something I’ve noticed over all your videos, I reckon you look better surfing on longer boards, like the chilli mid-strength (6’10?). With your height and weight, maybe a bit longer in the boards. What ever you have the best fun on though!

    Looks REAL good under your feet! The only drawdown of this is his prices are on the high end ....... blame it on covid and a tad of greed? I can relate being self employed myself but that's time inflation for you. In 1979 my Lightning Bolt MR twin fin was a whopping $379 vs the $250 norm. In 1984 my Al Merrick was $375 PRE Curren aka from their one and only surfshop in Santa Barbara!

    I’ve been thinking of picking up one of these for a while now. Starting to downsize my quiver as I’ve dropped about 20kgs since I bought my last board and now it feels a little too wide and boaty at times (6’0 Machado Seaside) I’m now 79kg and tossing up between the 5’7 & the 5’8. I’d always heard if you were indecisive on sizing to go on the higher side especially with grovellers & small wave boards, but I’m also still dropping weight so wondering if I just go the 5’7. I just want to get it right as they’re definitely pricy, do you have any recommendations?

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide Месяц назад

      Hey mate! These are so short, that if the volume is on the high side it’s only be beneficial. Saying that, unless you’re surfing at such a high level that rail sensitivity and board thickness will drastically impact your performance. That isn’t me…

    Hey mate, love the review but im a little confused when you started talking fins. You mentioned being recommended a more upright fin to help with the looseness of the hip - wouldn't a more upright fin make it even more loose? Or did you find even by going to a more upright fin, having a bigger centre fin than the am2 set might have helped ?
